Her understanding of nutrition and the impact it has on our emotional health and overall well-being makes her a great addition to the Crossfit Shakerag team. Hope is married to her husband, Josh, has two children, Faith and Grace, and a dog, Harper. Hope is an avid crossfitter and when she is not testing her physical and mental stamina in the gym, you will find her competing at local crossfit competitions. On the weekend, you may find her working at her family’s produce stand selling fresh produce from her grandfather’s farm. Her love of food and nutrition stems from growing up around fresh produce on both sides of her family. She loves spending time with family, reading, cooking, and watching the Food Network and Law and Order in her spare time.

Turning Point

My journey with nutrition began when I was in high school- I was a quick fix, yo-yo dieting, insecure girl who used extreme measures to “fit in” with what I thought was beautiful. I played soccer and was a competitive cheerleader with very little self-esteem and what little I had was based on what others thought of me or how well I played sports . I was born with a body I couldn’t understand or appreciate, and I didn’t consider the things I was capable of, because I was blind to the reality that I had worth. Shortly after college, I became obsessed with the idea that having a healthy relationship with food would be my platform for having a healthy relationship with myself. After giving birth to two beautiful girls, and experiencing nothing short of a miracle, I quickly realized how amazing the human body is and that self-worth is multi-faceted and every-growing. This newfound identity was far from the simple idea that it exists in the mirror, in a number or based on performance/success in life.
